The Commercial Register is a database belonging to the state information system, the purpose of which is to collect, store and disclose information on sole proprietorships, companies and branches of foreign companies located in Estonia. The commercial register is maintained by the registry department of Tartu County Court.

A private limited company is a company with divided share capital. A shareholder is not personally liable for the obligations of a private limited company. The private limited company is responsible for fulfilling its obligations with all its assets. The share capital must be at least 2,500 euros.
